Join us for the first of three webinars on the Science of Reading and learn why this proven approach to teaching reading is getting the attention of state departments of education, districts, and reading experts across the globe.
During this first webinar, viewers learn from our experts about what the Science of Reading truly is, the myths and facts surrounding how it is taught and who “needs” it, and ways to build the Science of Reading into classroom exercises, writing strategies, and activities. Special attention is placed on how the Science of Reading can and should apply to English learners. Viewers learn:
- Who benefits from instruction based in reading research
- That instruction based on the Science of Reading extends far beyond foundational skills
- What skills, strategies, and activities are essential to teach all students and how to teach those skills for maximum learning
- The adjustments to instruction that must be made when working with English learners
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to PreK-8 teachers, especially those teaching reading, literacy specialists, reading interventionists, and school and district leaders. Parts 2 and 3 to be offered to staff in the near future.
