Description:
Sign up for a Professional Development: Book Tasting Session! Just like our student book tasting lessons, this session aims to ignite your passion for reading while also providing valuable insights into our library books that are relevant to your content area. Expect to be whisked away to a cozy ambiance in the library, where tables will have enticing platters of books, each offering a unique flavor to savor. During the tasting, teachers will have the opportunity to sample a variety of books, taking time to peruse the back covers, flip through pages, and even dive into the first chapter. After each sampling, you'll rotate to the next table for another delightful selection. From new arrivals to popular award-winning titles, biography and narrative non-fiction, to books addressing themes and topics pertinent to your classroom discussions and content areas, there's something for every palate.
Research consistently shows that reading plays a crucial role in developing essential skills for lifelong learning and academic achievement. Students who are avid readers tend to perform better on standardized tests, demonstrate stronger critical thinking skills, and exhibit a greater capacity for empathy and understanding. In the Book Tasting sessions, I aim to empower teachers from all content areas to play a pivotal role in promoting reading across the curriculum and add another layer of how you impact students academic achievement. By showcasing a diverse range of literature related to your subject matter, teachers can inspire students to connect with their learning in a meaningful way and cultivate a lifelong love of reading.
This session not only offers a peak into our library collection and how our books support your curriculum, but it also opens doors to further professional development opportunities. Following the tasting, we can discuss opportunities for creating a book study PDH to dive deeper into specific titles and explore how they can be integrated into your curriculum.
Contact Greta McCarty to schedule a book tasting and begin exploring how our library can enrich your curriculum further. Greta will curate personalized tasting menus based on your content area. Sign up individually or as a department to indulge in this literary feast.
