Blacksmithing Workshop
For all levels of experience: Beginners & Intermediate
Enjoy two half-days learning, developing and practicing skills in the historic art of blacksmithing. Class will cover safety, tools, fire control, basic techniques and terminology. Class is designed for adults. Beginners and those with experience are welcome. The instructor will adjust and adapt the class to fit the skill levels of all participants. If you have previously taken one of Rick's Blacksmithing classes, you are welcome to return for more advanced practice.
Class will be working with coal and gas-fired forges.
Completing this class enables participants to volunteer in the blacksmith shop in the Pioneer Village - Living History Museum in Cameron, WI.
DATES & TIMES: Saturday, April 26 from 8 am - 12 pm AND Sunday, April 27 from 12-4 pm
LOCATION: Tolliver Farm - Anvil Acres, 640 Mains Crossing, Amery WI
INSTRUCTOR: Rick Tolliver, 40 years of metal working experience
FEE: $139 to Amery Community Ed; pre-register
BRING:
- Eye, ear and skin protection to include safety glasses, ear plugs or ear muffs, leather gloves, long-sleeved shirt and pants of cotton or leather. Synthetic and polyester clothing will burn and melt, and there will be sparks and brushes against hot metal.
- Water bottle
- Tools will be provided, but if you have a favorite hammer, pliers or tongs, please bring them along.
